EEOC Temporarily Suspends Closing Investigations or Issuing Right-to-Sue Letters during Pandemic


Discrimination charges will remain open longer and extend time period for charging party’s to file lawsuits

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, EEOC is halting closing investigations of discrimination charges and is pausing the issuance of right-to-sue letters unless requested by a charging party.  Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, employees have 90 days from receipt of the right-to-sue letter to file a lawsuit in federal district court.
